Tafawa Balewa Square, situated in Lagos Island, Nigeria, is a 14.5-hectare ceremonial ground originally known as the Race Course, renamed in honour of Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
Featuring statues of giant horses, the Remembrance Arcade with memorials to World War participants, and the 26-storey Independence House, it serves as a key venue for national parades, events, and commemorates Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
